Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and its aim is to encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. The system uses a scale to score environmentally friendly actions taken during the construction and use of a building. The LEED system rates the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, homes, and even neighborhoods. GreenEcoSavers can help you navigate these requirements and achieve a maximum number of credits towards a LEED certification.

For an existing building the first step towards LEED certification is to perform a full-scale energy audit. The energy audit is used to identify energy waste and ways to reduce energy consumption and cost. However, a LEED certification goes beyond the energy audit and rates a project in a variety of categories such as: location and transportation, materials and resources, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, sustainable sites, indoor environmental quality, innovation and regional priority, where necessary.

GES can also help you implement a sustainability plan for ongoing operations in order to perpetuate environmentally friendly actions during the use of the building which can also be used to achieve LEED certification. There are several categories for LEED certification and most of them require commissioning of the building - a process which ensures that the building operates as planned and that the staff is trained in the operation and maintenance of the equipment at the LEED standards.
