Retrocommissioning (RCx) and Commissioning (Cx) Services
In order to make sure that your building runs at optimal levels, either as planned or as desired, GES offers Commissioning (Cx) services for new buildings and Retrocommissioning (RCx) services for existing buildings. During the Commissioning of a building, all systems, schedules and operations are checked in order to determine if they perform as planned, and any necessary adjustments are made. Retro-commissioning performs the same "check-up" of the building and recommends no-cost or low-cost updates and modifications which can be easily implemented, and which offer a quick return on investment. These recommendations typically include repairing control devices, repairing broken components and reprogramming control sequences which in turn can achieve energy efficiency in a few different areas, such as:
-
Overall systems energy efficiency
-
Overall cost savings
-
Carbon footprint and green house emissions reduction
-
Increased equipment lifetime
Commissioning and Retrocommissioning are akin to fine tuning the facility for optimal performance. The results achieved are checked through a measurement and verification (M&V) process and the typical return on investment for retro-commissioning projects is around the 1 year mark according to a study conducted by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL).
